The global coffee market is experiencing a volatile period, as supply concerns continue to support prices and spur buying from hedge funds. A strong recovery in the Brazilian real has also contributed to the trend, with the currency hitting a nearly two-month high against the dollar on Friday (24 January).

Persistent worries in the coffee industry remain, especially with prices currently at record highs, Reuters reports. In addition, low global inventories and supply chain issues that show no signs of improvement are also weighing on the market.

In Vietnam, domestic coffee trading was quiet amid the Lunar New Year holiday. However, coffee prices continued to rise following the rise of Robusta coffee on the London exchange last week. Traders said that despite the quiet market, the long-term outlook remained positive thanks to supportive factors from global supply and prices.

Accordingly, the current coffee market situation shows a combination of macroeconomic factors and supply chain barriers. Traders and investors need to closely monitor market developments to make appropriate decisions in the coming time.
