Silent pride
One day in early November 2025, I had the opportunity to talk with the employees of the PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVTrans), the silent people who contributed to PVTrans's journey to the sea. Among that group, Ms. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh, Deputy Head of Finance - Accounting Department and Mr. Tran Thai, Deputy Head of Liquid Transportation Department, Business Department, left many impressions on me. One was dynamic and active, the other was calm and quiet. Two different personalities, but with the same spirit of dedication, creativity and solidarity.
In my eyes, Ms. Hanh is a quick and active person. In every word she says, there is always a reflection of confidence and pride in working at PVTrans. Having worked with the Finance and Accounting Department for 6 years, she understands every number and every capital arrangement plan, with both the reason of a professional and the emotions of someone who always puts her heart into her work.

Ms. Hanh shared with pride that every time a PVTrans ship sets sail, she feels like she has a small contribution in it: "Even though I only contribute a small part, the feeling of being attached to each ship makes me love and be passionate about my job more every day."
I felt in her eyes the joy and pride of the person who contributed to each voyage. For her, each negotiation with partners to reduce costs is a familiar task, but in each number, she always puts into it a sense of responsibility and a desire to contribute practically to the efficiency of the Corporation. "Every penny of cost reduction is also every penny of profit brought to PVTrans" , Ms. Hanh shared.
At work, Ms. Hanh is always serious and meticulous with numbers. However, when mentioning the Union, her voice becomes closer and warmer. She confided that one of the things that makes her attached to PVTrans is the thoughtful and humane care of the Union organization, from small gifts during holidays and Tet to Mid-Autumn and Christmas programs for workers' children. "Every year, my children eagerly ask: Where is your company organizing this year, how is it organized? Just that is enough to see the joy spreading in every family" , she shared, her eyes full of affection.
Working with numbers requires absolute precision, there are days when she feels pressured and stressed. But just a small action from the Union, such as a glass of cool water or a cake delivered during work hours, makes her feel the sharing and sincere care. As an active union member, Ms. Hanh always actively participates in movements and activities launched by the Union. According to her, the Union is not only a place of care, but also a spiritual support for workers to be more steadfast in their work.

From deck to desk
Unlike Ms. Hanh, Mr. Tran Thai used to be a crew member on international ships, wandering the ocean for many years before joining PVTrans. Perhaps because of that, he understands better than anyone the hardships and sacrifices of seafarers.
He said the shipping industry is very harsh, crew members are away from home for many months, working in the midst of storms, only spirit and faith can help them stay strong. That is what makes him appreciate the care that the Union gives to the crew, from family visits, or visits to the ship to encourage staff during Tet. "Just a wish, a handshake is enough to warm the hearts of the crew at sea" , Mr. Thai shared.
Now, working at the Business Department, he brings the spirit of an experienced person to work. He talks about PVTrans in a calm but proud voice: "This is a united, professional environment, where employees are always respected and protected."

To improve work efficiency, he proactively learns and applies technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize work processes. He considers the "Good worker - Creative worker" movement launched by the Union to be an important part of PVTrans culture, helping each person to always be aware of learning and innovation, and also an opportunity for workers to affirm their capacity, promote initiatives and create value for the collective. Through their eyes and words, they clearly show "PVTrans belief", nurtured by the spirit of solidarity, helping the collective overcome all challenges.
“At PVTrans, everyone is always ready to support each other and the Union always stands side by side to encourage and share with the workers. That is what helps us overcome challenges and move forward,” said Mr. Thai.
On the eve of the PVTrans Trade Union Congress for the 2025-2030 term, workers always think of the image of PVTrans branded ships reaching out to the open sea, steadfast and proud amidst the storms. On that journey, there are countless "PVTrans hearts" who are working hard every day, silently contributing to help the ship go further. Workers like Ms. Hanh and Mr. Thai are representatives of the PVTrans spirit: responsibility - creativity - sharing. And above all, they are also living proof of the persistent and humane role of the Trade Union, a reliable bridge between workers and businesses, a place to inspire the spirit of dedication, spread positive energy, and contribute to helping the "ship" PVTrans steadily go further.
