Farmers proactively pump water to drain water.
In order to promptly overcome and minimize damage caused by floods and heavy rains, helping people restore production, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that farmers focus on taking care of crops and restoring production after rain and floods.
Accordingly, for rice plants, it is necessary to monitor the hydrometeorological situation, regularly update weather reports to proactively protect rice fields, concentrate all resources on pumping and draining water to avoid prolonged flooding causing damage, and apply all measures, including manual ones, to thoroughly drain water, creating conditions for the fields to dry early.
For vegetables, farmers should promptly harvest the areas that have reached the commercial stage to ensure productivity and quality. For areas with minor damage, it is necessary to proactively check, drain water promptly, prune branches that are damaged or broken after the rain, and create conditions for the fields to be airy. After the water recedes, it is necessary to lightly hoe the bed surface, mound the base and plant the plants.
For fruit trees, clear the flow or use a pump to quickly drain water in the garden, limit prolonged flooding; clean the garden, collect trash, mud, broken branches to reduce the spread of pests, add lime to disinfect, increase soil pH, and treat pathogens./
