Pig price in the Northern region
On the morning of June 20, the northern pig market continued to maintain stable prices, maintaining transactions at 68,000 VND/kg and 69,000 VND/kg.
Of which, Hanoi , Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang have the highest live pig price in the region, reaching 69,000 VND/kg. Live pigs in the remaining localities in the region are purchased by traders at 68,000 VND/kg.
This is a signal that supply and demand in the Northern region are maintaining stability, with no sudden changes in disease or consumption demand. Traders are mainly buying in moderation, creating a "quiet" state in the market for the past three days.
Some sources said that pork prices in the North may remain stable until the end of the week if there are no significant changes from the Chinese market - which has strongly affected the direction of informal exports in recent times.
Pig price in the Central Highlands region
Meanwhile, in the Central Highlands region, the price of live pigs in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam both decreased by VND1,000/kg, bringing the transaction price to VND68,000/kg. This is the first time in more than a week that these two localities have lost the price mark above VND69,000/kg, reflecting weak purchasing power while the supply to the market showed signs of a slight increase after the recent holiday.
In the South, the price reduction wave is more obvious. Specifically, in Vinh Long and Can Tho, the price of live pigs decreased by 1,000 VND, down to 72,000 VND/kg. Ben Tre and Tien Giang are also not out of the trend, recording the same price of 71,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND compared to yesterday.
These are all localities that have maintained stable prices throughout the past week, but are now adjusting prices down according to signals from the domestic consumption market, especially in Ho Chi Minh City and major wholesale markets.
Currently, live pigs in this area are being purchased by traders for around 68,000 - 73,000 VND/kg.
Pig price in the Southern region
Similar to the Central region, the live hog market in the South also decreased slightly in some localities this morning. Accordingly, after adjustment, live hogs in Can Tho were at 72,000 VND/kg, in Tien Giang at 71,000 VND/kg.
The main reason is that the output of pigs to the market in these localities is decreasing slightly due to entering the end of the main harvest season.
However, according to livestock farmers and processors, this partial recovery is not enough to create a widespread price increase effect. In the context of slow pork consumption nationwide, output prices have not had a clear push from the domestic or export markets.
Thus, live pigs in the Southern region are being sold at prices ranging from 70,000 - 73,000 VND/kg. Of which, the price of 73,000 VND/kg appears in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ca Mau.
