The railway has deployed wagons carrying sleepers to block the two Luat Le bridges to prevent them from being swept away by floodwaters.
News from Vietnam Railways Corporation , heavy rains since November 17 in the South Central region have seriously affected many railway sections.
In particular, since November 18, in Gia Lai province, heavy rain from upstream has caused the water level at Luat Le 1 bridge (Km01+606) and Luat Le 2 bridge (Km02+729) on the Dieu Tri - Quy Nhon branch to rise abnormally high, reaching close to the sleepers, with strong currents, directly threatening the structure of the span and the pier base.
Blockade the section, arrange for cargo ships to protect the bridge.
In the face of the urgent situation, today (November 19), Nghia Binh Railway Joint Stock Company has blocked the Dieu Tri - Quy Nhon section and deployed a freight train to protect the bridge. According to the technical plan, the 114m long Luat Le 1 bridge consists of 2 spans loaded with 2 sleeper wagons; the Luat Le 2 bridge consists of 1 span, loaded with 1 sleeper wagon; each wagon weighs 44.5 tons.

Floodwaters reached the roofs of people's houses and submerged the entire railway.
Also this afternoon, as floodwaters continued to pour into Dieu Tri station, flooding the rails. To ensure safety, the railway industry organized an "evacuation" of three passenger trains, Thong Nhat SE1, SE3, SE7, which were waiting at the station to neighboring stations such as Binh Dinh station and Phuoc Nhon station. Passengers were served free meals and drinks while the train was waiting.

Water flooded the tracks in the station, the railway had to pull passenger trains to "evacuate" to neighboring stations.
Due to the ongoing and unpredictable floods, railway management units in the Central and Central Highlands regions are always focused on mobilizing maximum forces and mechanical equipment, coordinating with units and localities to overcome problems and restore train operations as soon as possible.
While waiting for the problem to be fixed, Vietnam Railways Corporation has temporarily stopped running more than 10 trains on the North-South route and related branch lines to ensure absolute safety for passengers.
