Durian price assessment today April 24, 2025
Despite stable prices, the Vietnamese durian market is still 15-20% lower than last year, especially for the Ri6 variety. The main reasons are:
China tightens chemical inspection (Cadmium, O-yellow), increases inspection rate to 100%
Long waiting time for inspection increases damage rate at border gates
Businesses are concerned about risks so they limit large purchases.
According to experts, to avoid losses in the upcoming harvest, farmers need to:
Proactively check for chemical residues before harvesting
Do not use smuggled or unknown origin fertilizers.
Close coordination with authorities in tracing growing and packaging areas

According to the Bangkok Post, the Thai Ministry of Commerce has officially requested China to relax the chemical inspection process for exported durian. During the meeting on April 17, Minister Pichai Naripthaphan directly invited the Chinese side to taste the Monthong durian variety - a popular variety among consumers in this country.
China expressed satisfaction with the quality of Thai durian and recommended that the country should control the purchasing process well, giving priority to reputable brokers to reduce the risk of comprehensive inspection.
In addition, Thailand also launched an online durian sales campaign via social networks, using KOLs and livestream platforms to boost consumption in the billion-people market.
