Vietnam's frozen durian grows 3 times, expanding Thai market

According to a report from the General Department of Customs, fruit and vegetable exports in June reached 807 million USD, up more than 30% compared to the previous month and 20.2% compared to the same period last year. This is the first month of the year to record growth after 5 consecutive months of decline.

The recovery of the durian industry is considered one of the main factors driving this growth. Durian alone contributed about 360 million USD in June, up more than 70% compared to May.

Currently, Vietnamese enterprises have improved their ability to control technical indicators such as the content of yellow O and cadmium - the causes of returned goods. Many enterprises also require growers and intermediaries to conduct quality testing before purchasing, contributing to increasing the rate of customs clearance of goods.

In addition to fresh durian, the export value of frozen durian also grew strongly, including the Thai market. In the first 6 months of the year, this item recorded remarkable growth with 388 export shipments, totaling 14,282 tons, more than 3 times higher than the same period last year.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment predicted that durian exports could recover strongly from the third quarter of 2025, especially during the main crop season from August to October. However, the level of recovery depends largely on businesses and farmers strictly maintaining committed food safety standards. If violations continue, the risk of affecting the export of this item remains very high.
