Impact from US reciprocal tax exemption helps pepper prices recover

In Dak Lak , pepper prices today reached 146,500 VND/kg, up 500 VND compared to yesterday. This increase helps farmers reduce pressure after many weeks of slow transactions. With a large raw material area like Dak Lak, the new increase in pepper prices is creating a good signal for the beginning of the season.

Chu Se area ( Gia Lai ) recorded pepper price at 145,000 VND/kg, an increase of 500 VND. This is a key pepper growing area, so the adjustment of pepper price here contributes significantly to market sentiment. Many households expect this recovery momentum to be maintained in the coming sessions.

Dak Nong continues to maintain the same increase as the Central Highlands when pepper prices reach 146,500 VND/kg. The steady increase in pepper prices helps farmers balance costs more easily during the period when material and labor prices remain high.

In Ba Ria – Vung Tau, pepper price today stood at 145,000 VND/kg. Binh Phuoc also recorded the same price of 145,000 VND/kg after increasing by 500 VND. These are two provinces with large output, so the slight increase in pepper price helps the entire Southeast region have more positive signals.

Pepper prices today, November 19, 2025, increased simultaneously in many regions, farmers expect new signals from the US market

The slight increase in pepper prices in the Central Highlands was supported by the US exemption of reciprocal tariffs for pepper and spices. The US is Vietnam’s largest market, but exports in the past 10 months have decreased by 28.5% due to tariffs. The new US decision is creating great expectations for a recovery in pepper prices in the coming time.

The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association recommends businesses to be cautious in shipments to the US, ensuring traceability to maintain their advantage. Previously, transit goods could be subject to a tax of up to 40%, so full compliance is an important factor to help stabilize pepper prices.

By the end of October 2025, Vietnam imported 37,783 tons of pepper, up 32% over the same period. Brazil led with 18,481 tons, followed by Cambodia and Indonesia. The high import volume has increased competitive pressure, affecting domestic pepper prices to a certain extent.

World pepper prices maintain a stable upward trend

According to IPC, the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper was at 7,087 USD/ton (down 0.16%), while Muntok white pepper was at 9,745 USD/ton. Brazilian black pepper was at 9,649 USD/ton (down 0.16%). Malaysia maintained a high level with 9,200 USD/ton for black pepper and 12,300 USD/ton for white pepper. Today, Vietnamese pepper prices were stable at 6,400 - 6,600 USD/ton, white pepper was around 9,050 USD/ton.

Although pepper prices remain good, farmers’ profit margins are narrowing due to increased costs of fertilizer, labor, and transportation. When pepper prices fall for two consecutive weeks, farmers are advised to sell in a rhythm to reduce risks.

IPC forecasts that world pepper prices will continue to increase, creating a foundation for Vietnam to achieve its export target of 1.5 billion USD this year. In October 2025 alone, Vietnam exported 18,788 tons, worth nearly 126 million USD, an increase of 4.42% in value.

In the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 205,229 tons of pepper, worth 1.39 billion USD. Output decreased by 6.4% but value increased by 25.3%, reflecting the strong pull of pepper prices in the context of rising global demand.
