Today, April 21, the basic domestic pepper price is temporarily at 155,000 - 156,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the weekend.

Today's pepper price in Dak Lak is at 156,000 VND/kg, farmers can get higher prices if the quality is higher than standard.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first 14 days of April 2025, Vietnam exported 10,413 tons of pepper, with a total turnover of 72 million USD, equivalent to an average price of 6,914 USD/ton.

The three leading exporters during this period were: Olam, Phuc Sinh and Nedspice with output of 1,467 tons, 1,177 tons and 750 tons respectively. Of which, Phuc Sinh is a Vietnamese enterprise, the remaining two brands are foreign giants.

The Chinese market is unpredictable for consumer goods.

By the end of the first quarter of 2024, the US is still the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, but compared to the same period, it decreased by 32.6% to 10,278 tons.

Next is India 3,370 tons, down 11.2%; Germany 3,358 tons, down 9.3%; UAE 2,757 tons, up 15.2%.

China was the next largest market with 2,034 tonnes, up nearly 88% year-on-year in 2024.

VPSA explained that this figure shows that pepper reserves in China have dropped to a low level. However, pepper exports to China at present are still limited due to the Chinese customs' policy of tightening border trade exports.

Meanwhile, if exporting by sea, the cost will increase, and Chinese import businesses are not ready yet.
