The highlight of the final day of competition was the two final matches in the amateur men’s team and advanced men’s team categories – categories that always attract a large audience. In the advanced men’s team category, the match between the Astronomy Club and Team SBTC Club brought a top-notch competition between veteran players and the younger generation.
In the opening match, Nguyen Thanh Luan-Nguyen Thanh Nam (Thien Van Club) defeated Nguyen Hoang Lam-Tran Manh Cuong (Team SBTC Club) with a score of 3-1. All four players have impressive records: Hoang Lam and Manh Cuong are from the national youth team, while Thanh Luan and Thanh Nam were pillars of the Army team, holding many domestic and international titles.
The second match was between Nguyen Duy Phong (Team SBTC) and Pham Thanh Son (Thien Van). With the advantage of youth and good physical foundation, Duy Phong - a national youth tennis player, currently playing for Hai Phong - won 3-1. In the third match, Tran Manh Cuong continued to show impressive form when he defeated Nguyen Thanh Nam 3-2, helping Team SBTC take the lead. However, Thien Van Club showed their mettle when they came from behind to win 3-2 after nearly four hours of competition, winning the championship of the advanced men's team event.

In the amateur men's team event, Nghia Do ward club defeated Cau Giay ward club with a score of 3-0. Although it was an amateur playground, the matches were still fierce, reflecting the widespread development of the table tennis movement in Hanoi .
The joy of victory spread throughout the stands. Athlete Doan Hong Bao An of the Astronomy Club shared: “We have gone through many difficulties, including injuries, but the spirit of solidarity helped the team overcome and win the championship." Tennis player Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong (Hanoi Children's Palace), who won the women's singles under 45 years old, said: "This is the first time I have won the championship at this tournament. This year, the opponents are all strong and even, so I feel lucky and happy."

This year’s tournament brought together nearly 400 professional and amateur athletes from 80 units across the country, from Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang to Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An. The large number of players showed the growing appeal of the tournament. An interesting highlight was the appearance of many first-time participants, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong – Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports – who won a bronze medal in the women’s doubles over 45 years old category.
Not only attracting athletes, the tournament also attracts a large number of spectators who are passionate about table tennis. Mr. Bui Van Phuc, 64 years old, from Hai Phong shared that every year he goes to Hanoi to watch the tournament: "The matches are as exciting as the national finals. I also set up a table tennis club at home to pass on my passion to the children." Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, 90 years old, from Ho Chi Minh City, said that every year going to Hanoi to watch the tournament is a great joy: "Seeing the players compete enthusiastically, I feel like a young person again."
After three days of fierce competition, the 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament 2025 successfully concluded, leaving many beautiful impressions in the hearts of fans. From the powerful shots on the table to the sportsmanship spreading in the stands, the tournament is not only a playground for the players but also an opportunity to connect the table tennis community across the country.
