Sustainable energy conversion solutions in industrial parks and economic zones

On the afternoon of May 16, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board coordinated with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Low Pressure Gas Distribution Joint Stock Company (PVGAS D) to organize a seminar with the theme: "Energy conversion for sustainable development in industrial parks and economic zones in Hai Phong city".

Comrade Le Trung Kien, Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, delivered the opening speech of the seminar.

Attending the discussion were comrade Le Trung Kien, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board. Also attending were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors and representatives of enterprises developing industrial park infrastructure in the city.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, emphasized that industrial parks and economic zones in Hai Phong city are always at the forefront of green transformation activities, typically the DEEP C Industrial Park and Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park. In addition, the city has also established the Southern Coastal Economic Zone with the orientation of a green economic zone and oriented newly established industrial zones according to the ecological industrial park model. The Head of the Management Board suggested that enterprises need to be more proactive in converting from traditional energy sources to cleaner and more sustainable energy such as LNG gas. The Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board will advise and propose to the city and the Central Government to have preferential mechanisms for enterprises using clean energy.

At the program, delegates focused on assessing the current status of energy use, analyzing the actual needs and challenges that Hai Phong's industrial parks and economic zones face in the context that the city and the whole country are resolutely implementing sustainable development goals and committing to achieving net zero emissions by 2050; at the same time, updating important national and city orientations and strategies on energy transition, emphasizing Hai Phong's pioneering role in building a green, circular economy; the potential and ability to supply LNG as an effective transition fuel solution for industries.

Delegates attended the panel discussion to exchange and discuss issues related to energy transition.

Representatives of departments, branches, localities, industrial park infrastructure companies and enterprises in industrial parks and economic zones in the city participated in the discussion sessions to frankly discuss barriers, share practical experiences, propose many breakthrough solutions and specific cooperation opportunities related to policies, finance, technology and sustainable energy infrastructure development.
