Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award: Supporting the journey of Thai Nguyen journalism

First held in 2024, the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award of Thai Nguyen province has become a useful professional forum, attracting the attention of journalists whose works are about Thai Nguyen. The award aims to honor high-quality journalistic works, contributing to improving propaganda effectiveness and promoting the creative labor movement in journalism activities in the area.

Authors and groups of authors won A prize at the first Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award of Thai Nguyen province - 2024.

The award is held every two years, named after the patriot Huynh Thuc Khang - who has made many contributions to the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Through this, it not only contributes to honoring high-quality press works but also is an opportunity to discover, nurture and encourage journalists to continue to be creative and dedicated. At the same time, it honors dedicated writers with profound works.

In the first season in 2024, the Award has created a wide spread, attracting the attention of many professional journalists and collaborators inside and outside the province. The Organizing Committee received more than 170 entries, vividly reflecting all aspects of political , economic, cultural and social life in Thai Nguyen province. After the preliminary round, 75 best entries were selected for the final round, including the following categories: Print (17 entries), Visual (23 entries), Audio (14 entries) and Electronic (21 entries).

The entries focus on reflecting prominent, current issues of social concern, clearly demonstrating the role of the press in propaganda and public opinion orientation. Some entries have in-depth content, demonstrating meticulous investment, closely following reality, such as a series of articles on Party building, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, anti-corruption, developing high-tech agriculture , protecting the environment, etc.

Authors and groups of authors won the C prize at the first Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award of Thai Nguyen province - 2024.

It is noteworthy that many works have strong social criticism and maintain constructiveness, demonstrating the mettle and responsibility of journalists. Some works in the radio and television genres are highly appreciated for their techniques, tight layout, use of vivid and attractive sounds and images, clearly demonstrating professional working skills...

Mr. Nguyen Bao Lam, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Permanent Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award : “The works participating in the Award have diverse topics and profound content. Most of them are of relatively good quality, demonstrating seriousness in approaching the topic and investing in content. Many works clearly demonstrate the efforts of the group of authors in deeply penetrating, recording the reality of life, are highly convincing and bring great reference value to readers”.

After a fair and transparent process, the Final Jury - including prestigious journalists from the Central and local levels - selected 37 works to award prizes, including: 4 A prizes, 7 B prizes, 11 C prizes and 15 Encouragement prizes. The total value of the prize is up to 340.2 million VND - an impressive number for the first time organizing, showing the province's respect for the contributions of journalists.

Among the award-winning works, the most notable is a series of articles by a group of reporters from Thai Nguyen Newspaper that won the A prize - "Thai Nguyen and the mission of leading the regional economy". The group of authors wrote a series of articles (5 parts) that clarified the mark after nearly 2 decades of the Resolution of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the midland and mountainous areas of the North (Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW) coming into life in Thai Nguyen province. Thereby, creating a new driving force in the socio-economic development of the entire midland and mountainous areas of the North.
