On June 13, the Urban Committee of the City People's Council organized a thematic supervision of the implementation of planning and investment in traffic infrastructure in the city. According to the report, from 2016 to present, the City People's Committee has focused on organizing planning and projects to implement higher-level planning, developing plans to implement key and breakthrough tasks in developing road traffic infrastructure, contributing to completing the traffic infrastructure network, expanding urban space, promoting economic growth, improving people's lives, ensuring urban traffic safety, and renewing the city's urban appearance. In particular, traffic accidents have been significantly reduced for 5 consecutive years.
Thereby, meeting the needs of travel and freight transport in the area, gradually developing public passenger transport by bus, expanding the scope of connection and linkage with neighboring localities, creating momentum for the city to become the center of the Central Key Economic Region.
To date, the city has 2,498 routes with a total length of 1,458.59 km and 74 bridges; two bus stations; 14 bus routes with 143 vehicles in operation, including 5 subsidized bus routes, 6 non-subsidized bus routes and 3 routes connecting Da Nang with the cities of Hoi An, Tam Ky and Hue. The city has developed and approved planning projects and proposals for the development of the road traffic infrastructure system.
In the 2016-2020 period, the city allocated 12,753 billion VND, accounting for 30.5% of the total capital to invest in projects in the field of public transport, of which the capital plan for road traffic projects is more than 8,576 billion VND to invest in 151 projects; the medium-term capital plan for the 2021-2025 period allocates more than 11,259 billion VND, accounting for 21.64% of the total capital to invest in projects and traffic works...
Concluding the monitoring session, Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council Le Tung Lam acknowledged the comments and explanations of the attending delegates, thereby requesting the professional department to synthesize and complete the draft report before submitting it to the Standing Committee of the City People's Council for consideration and specific instructions.
