Fighting to buy durian, revoking licenses of many petroleum companies

At the Forum "Identifying the current situation of durian consumption and export linkage in 2023 and solutions for effective and sustainable development of the Vietnamese durian industry" on the morning of September 11, Mr. Nguyen Huu Chien, Director of Tan Lap Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Dak Lak), informed that competition for buying and selling occurs regularly. - Vietnam will export durian to India

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the Plant Protection Department is currently completing procedures to open the export of durian to India. According to Ms. Huong, fresh durian from Vietnam is currently exported to 24 markets. Frozen durian is also exported to 23 markets. In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam exported over 300,000 tons of fresh durian (according to VNA).

- Vietnam - US economic and trade cooperation has many more open corridors

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that the US has been Vietnam's leading trade partner and largest export market for many consecutive years, accounting for nearly 30% of Vietnam's total export turnover to the world. In 2022, Vietnam became the 8th largest trade partner of the US (according to VTV).

- Plant Protection Department explains the suspension of some export growing area codes to China

In response to the recent document of the Plant Protection Department to a number of localities to temporarily suspend and revoke planting areas and packaging facilities that do not meet regulations when exporting to China, causing many businesses to be surprised and encounter difficulties when exporting, on the morning of September 11, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department, affirmed: "Currently, there are no congested shipments at the export border gate to China". Ms. Huong said that according to the provisions of the Protocol, at the time of inspection of the shipment before export or at the arrival border gate, if violations are detected, Vietnam or China will temporarily suspend exports with the code of that planting area and packaging facility for the remainder of the season. Those planting areas and packaging facilities will have to correct the violations, return the dossier to the Plant Protection Department and send it to the Chinese authorities for consideration (according to VNA).

- Customs budget revenue in August improved but decreased by 19.2% compared to the same period

The representative of the General Department of Customs said on the afternoon of September 11 that the state budget revenue from import-export activities from August 1 to 31 reached VND 27,771 billion, an increase of 0.54% compared to the previous month. Accumulated from January 1 to August 31, 2023, the revenue only reached VND 240,390 billion, equal to 56.6% of the estimate, down 19.2% compared to the same period last year (according to Tin Tuc Newspaper).

The price of gold today on the world market increased slightly. The price of gold in the country also increased. The price of gold bars is heading towards 69 million VND/tael. The price of gold rings also increased.

Deposit interest rates at the beginning of the new week, many banks have reduced deposit interest rates to below 6%/year. Since the beginning of September, a total of 10 banks have reduced deposit interest rates including: MB, OCB, Sacombank, SHB, GPBank, Techcombank, Eximbank, ACB, Nam A Bank, KienLongBank.
