Stirring up information about fake egg production in Vietnam, Poultry Association speaks out

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of May 18, a representative of the Vietnam Poultry Association confirmed that the unit had just sent a document to relevant ministries and branches requesting to handle false rumors about fake eggs.

The document stated that recently, some social networking sites have spread false information about the production of fake chicken eggs in our country, causing confusion and anxiety among consumers and negatively affecting the production and trading of poultry eggs.

This association affirms that up to now, there is no scientific evidence of the production of fake eggs with the same characteristics as natural chicken eggs.

"In fact, in our country, in the past and present, no fake eggs have been discovered circulating on the market. It can be affirmed that the information spread on social networks about the production of fake chicken eggs in the country is completely fabricated," the document stated.

Faced with that situation, the Vietnam Poultry Association recommends that the authorities investigate, verify and strictly handle those who have spread false information about fake eggs.

Recently, a representative of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Tay Ninh province also said that the spread of fake egg news without scientific basis has seriously affected the poultry farming industry.

From the above reality, this agency recommends that relevant agencies promptly investigate and strictly handle those who spread fake news.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Le Van Quyet, vice president of the Southeast Poultry Association, said that the cost of producing industrial chicken eggs at the farm currently fluctuates from 1,100 - 1,400 VND/egg, so the cost of producing fake eggs, if any, must be higher than real eggs, which will not be economically effective.

According to Mr. Quyet, spreading false rumors like the fake egg case has been happening frequently recently, causing great impact on the domestic livestock industry.

"Authorities need to inspect and strictly handle violations to avoid this situation from recurring. In fact, production is currently quite difficult when the selling price of poultry eggs is low, many farms are suffering prolonged losses."

Need to increase control over production

Many experts believe that in addition to correcting false rumors, local management agencies also need to increase monitoring and control of egg quality from production to consumption.

In particular, the source of breeding stock and animal feed also needs to be strictly controlled, without using antibiotics or banned substances.
