The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 2575 on authorizing the Departmentof Education and Training to approve the list of textbooks selected by educational institutions in the capital.

Accordingly, Hanoi authorizes the Department of Education and Training to approve the list of textbooks selected by educational institutions in the city under the approval authority of the City People's Committee, from now until December 31, 2027.

Hanoi said that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training must be responsible before the law and the city for implementing the authorized content in accordance with regulations.

Previously, on February 9, 2023, the monitoring delegation of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation worked with the Hanoi People's Committee on the topic "Implementation of Resolution No. 88/2014/QH13 and Resolution No. 51/2017/QH14 of the National Assembly on innovation of general education programs and textbooks for the 2014-2022 period" of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Pham Xuan Tien said about the selection of textbooks, Mr. Tien affirmed that Hanoi City's selection was based on the grassroots level, following the Ministry's guidance process, without any direction or suggestions for schools.

Speaking at the monitoring session, National Assembly delegate and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that through the opinions of teachers, the Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the 2018 General Education Program has new points such as consistency, unity, target orientation, and rigidity in output standards; steadfastness and unity, even though different sets of textbooks must still follow that spirit.

"During the implementation process, on the way to the goal, teachers need to be more confident, stronger, and more creative to create initiative and flexibility in teaching and learning," said Mr. Son.
