The Vietnam U16 team is completing preparations for the CFA Team China 2025 International U16 Tournament taking place in Hohhot City, China from May 26 to June 1, with opponents from Australia, Saudi Arabia and the host country.

In the past time, the team had 2 practice matches with U17 Hanoi and Bac Ninh to review the force and test the playing style. The coaching staff also evaluated the operational capacity of each player, thereby building an optimal framework towards the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.

Sharing on the afternoon of May 23, head coach Cristiano Roland informed: "The past two weeks have been very important for the players to adapt to the national team environment.

The players have improved and developed a lot. I am happy with what the players have shown. The whole team is ready for the challenges in the future.

One of the most important things is attitude. The whole team always maintains the spirit of trying to overcome all difficulties. This is a good thing that will help the players practice the habit of improving themselves after every mistake, even the smallest one like an incorrect pass.

I think the new generation of players also have good football intelligence. Hopefully this will help the players themselves go further. Because as I have affirmed many times, we have spirit, physical strength and need to improve more in tactical thinking.

The current physical foundation of the U16 Vietnam team can be said to be superior to previous generations. However, we still need more time to develop this generation of players better. Youth training is always a long journey."

At the 2025 CFA Team China International U16 Tournament, Vietnam U16 is scheduled to compete against Australia U16 (1:00 p.m. on May 28), China U16 (6:35 p.m. on May 30) and Saudi Arabia U16 (1:00 p.m. on June 1).

Evaluating the tournament, the Brazilian coach said: "This is the first test for the new generation of players. The three opponents are all very strong, so the requirements for the playing attitude and fighting spirit of the U16 Vietnam team will be pushed to the maximum.

These three matches will also help the players understand how far they have reached at the Asian level. Because after this tournament, we will continue to prepare for the Asian U17 qualifiers."

Before leaving for China on the morning of May 25, U16 Vietnam will finalize the list of 24 official players participating in the tournament.
