Friendship exchange to celebrate 50 years of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations

On April 7, in Vung Tau City, the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized a friendship exchange program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations (April 12, 1973 - April 12, 2023).

Mr. Tran Thuong Chi, Director of the Department of Transport, Chairman of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province presented a souvenir to Mr. Sébastien Pochat Cottilloux, Deputy Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City.

Along with national relations, in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, France has become one of the reliable and important partners in many fields. Regarding diplomatic relations, in 2011, the province signed a memorandum of understanding with the Brest oceanic urban area, organizing delegation exchanges, introducing marine science and technology, and exchanging students and officials between the two sides.

Regarding investment cooperation in the province, up to now, French companies have invested with a total capital of more than 1 billion USD, including: Phu My 2.2 BOT Power Plant Project; Project to produce components, equipment and spare parts of Gonzalez Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Resort project of Lesco Resort Co., Ltd.; Seaport project of Cai Mep Gemadept Terminal Link Joint Stock Company...

In addition to investment and trade cooperation activities, humanitarian charity work in the province has also been carried out by French non-governmental organizations. Notable projects include: Project "Supporting the care of children in especially difficult circumstances (APER Organization); Supporting health, education and food for children in difficult circumstances (La Bonne Etoile Organization); Sponsoring and supporting orphans at Long Hai Children's Protection Center and Vung Tau City (Enfance Partenariat Vietnam Organization (EPVN) ... The above projects have actively contributed to supporting the care of children in especially difficult circumstances in the province.

As a bridge of friendship, the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of the province have organized many people-to-people diplomacy activities. Thereby, creating connections and promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and France in general and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the French people in particular.
