Exchange with Akutagawa Prize-winning author in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

Rie Qudan is one of the prominent figures in contemporary Japanese literature, widely known as the winner of the Akutagawa Prize, one of Japan's most prestigious literary awards. She is highly regarded for her unique storytelling style, which stems from her ability to observe society with a sharp eye.

The series of exchange events includes many activities such as sharing and chatting with author Rie Qudan, exchange sessions with students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

At the book launch event, Rie Qudan will share about her creative journey, the process of creating the work, her choice of words, and why she decided to use AI tools in part during the writing process.

In addition, author Rie Qudan also took time to interact directly with readers, creating opportunities for Vietnamese readers to openly exchange with Japanese authors from different cultural perspectives.

In addition, there will be a conversation between Japanese and Vietnamese authors Rie Qudan and Maik Cay, bringing many unique perspectives on creativity in literature. The two authors from two different cultures and languages will discuss how they observe the world and feel the movement of society, the limits of language in expression or the relationship between authors and readers.

In addition to public events, the author also visited and interacted with students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Hopefully, Rie Qudan's direct sharing will help students of the Faculty of Japanese Studies or Literature to gain a deeper understanding of the nuances of the Japanese language as well as a more vivid perspective on contemporary Japanese society.

The book launch event and meeting with author Rie Qudan took place at 2:00 p.m. on November 30 at San Ho Books (DEVYT building, 55 Truong Cong Giai, Cau Giay, Hanoi).

The talk between Rie Qudan and Maik Cay “Building the world from words” takes place at 7:00 p.m. on December 1, also at 55 Truong Cong Giai, Hanoi.
