Sowing green seeds with Gen Z

DNO – On June 7, the Da Nang City Youth Union announced that it had concluded the “Green Media Ambassador” contest in 2025. The event marked a meaningful end to a long journey of connecting the young generation with green living values, and at the same time, an opportunity to honor the efforts, creativity and sense of community responsibility of the city’s youth in communicating environmental protection.

The “Green Media Ambassador” contest was launched by the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Youth Union, in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Vietnam, as part of a series of key activities of the Youth Union and youth movement in 2025. With the theme “Living green with Gen Z”, the program aims to find and nurture young faces who can inspire an environmentally friendly lifestyle, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of society.

The program is implemented in many stages and is highlyeducational . In particular, in mid-April 2025, the contestants had a field trip to Lang La (Hoa Bac, Hoa Vang district) - a typical ecological community model. Here, they experienced waste sorting at the source, learned about the model of planting native trees associated with forest protection and listened to the sharing of people who are living a green life in a sustainable way... These authentic experiences have become important materials for later media products.

After the journey of experience and learning, the contestants entered the preliminary round with the challenge of creating a communication video of no more than 5 minutes with a green living message, uploaded to YouTube and sent to the Organizing Committee. The best contestants were selected for the final round, participating in online workshops with experts to perfect the product in both content and presentation skills.

At the closing ceremony, the contestants presented their communication products using slides and mind maps. Many entries were highly appreciated for their ability to convey messages clearly, creatively and strongly inspire the community.

Through the judging process, the Jury determined that many products not only demonstrated creative thinking and a clear understanding of environmental issues, but also had a strong spirit of action and the ability to connect with the community, showing a dynamic, responsible and inspiring Gen Z generation for positive change.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize (to Phan Thi Bao Kim, Thai Phien High School), 4 Second Prizes, 8 Third Prizes, 14 Encouragement Prizes, and many meaningful gifts to recognize the efforts and creativity of the contestants. In particular, the "Green Media Ambassadors" selected from the contest will continue to accompany the City Youth Union in propaganda campaigns and raising public awareness about the environment in the coming time.

The contest “Live Green with Gen Z” is not simply a playground, but a foundation to form a generation of young people who live responsibly, love nature and proactively protect the environment from the smallest actions. More than a contest, this is a journey to sow green seeds for the present and towards a sustainable future.
