Despite the new moniker, the product has the same architecture as the Dimensity 1300 and 1200. This SoC supports quad-channel RAM and dual-channel UFS 3.1 internal storage.
The device is manufactured on TSMC's 6nm process. It comes with a 5G modem and an octa-core architecture, with four high-speed Cortex-A78 cores including a super-speed core clocked at up to 3GHz and three high-performance cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz. The remaining four Cortex-A55 cores will perform power-saving tasks.
The chipset features an Arm Mali-G77 GPU with 9 cores dedicated to graphics. In addition, the Dimensity 8050 supports 4K video recording, a 200MP single camera with 20% faster night photography than the previous Dimensity line.
Additionally, the SoC gives manufacturers the flexibility to design smartphones with Full-HD+ displays up to 168Hz or Quad-HD+ displays with 90Hz refresh rates.
In addition, the product also includes MediaTek MiraVision to provide various HDR video display and playback technologies to bring cinema-level experience to users.
Tecno Camon 20 Premier is the first smartphone to feature this chipset.
