Officers and workers of Ninh Kieu Electricity Management Team inspect an electrical cabinet in Con Khuong area.
According to Can Tho City Electricity Company, in the face of high tides causing flooding in many areas in the area, the Company has urgently deployed many synchronous technical solutions to ensure the safety of the power system and maintain stable power supply for the city. Along with that, the Company has directed local power management teams to increase technical forces to conduct surprise inspections of key locations. The focus is on electrical cabinets and power stations in areas that are often deeply flooded, such as Cach Mang Thang 8 Street, Binh Thuy Market area, Con Khuong area and some roads in Hung Phu residential area... Through inspection, the power management teams have detected and promptly handled potential points that could lead to electrical safety risks. At the same time, measures should be taken to raise the electricity meter boxes and electrical cabinets located on sidewalks in residential areas to prevent the risk of short circuits and electrical leakage due to flooding, especially when the tide reaches its peak accompanied by heavy rain... to help ensure electrical safety for people's travel and daily activities.
Along with fully preparing equipment, materials, means and arranging human resources to be ready to quickly handle electrical incidents during high tides or storms, Can Tho City Electricity Company also directed the local shock troops to take action to fix weak points, especially power lines crossing roads, rivers, etc. in areas managed by the unit. Mr. Nguyen Cong Luc, Head of Safety Department, Can Tho City Electricity Company, said: To prevent incidents and electrical accidents during high tides, the electricity industry has increased propaganda work, instructing people to implement electrical safety measures. Specifically: for households that are often flooded due to high tides, the electricity industry recommends raising electrical outlets in the house to avoid flooding and causing fires and explosions; pay attention to checking the electrical system in the house, quickly fixing the situation of water seeping into electrical outlets on the wall, which can easily lead to risks of fire and explosion; Quickly turn off the circuit breaker or circuit breaker when detecting water flooding into the house or damp electrical equipment; absolutely do not touch sockets, switches, or electrical equipment with wet hands; equip the electrical system in the home with anti-shock devices; unplug unnecessary electrical equipment from the power source during thunderstorms or lightning; implement safe grounding measures for electrical equipment such as refrigerators, water heaters, pumps, washing machines, etc. according to technical instructions.
The electricity industry also recommends that when it rains heavily with thunder and lightning, people should limit going out to avoid falling trees that break power lines or power lines being broken by lightning strikes. Do not attempt to repair power lines or electrical equipment or climb onto roofs, terraces, or places where power lines pass through... during storms or floods. In case of detecting an electrical problem in the house or when seeing a power pole falling down, or a broken power line falling onto the road, due to the impact of natural disasters or storms, people should absolutely not approach and should keep a safe distance of 20m or more to avoid being electrocuted; at the same time, immediately notify the nearest local power company... for timely repair and handling.
When detecting an electrical problem due to natural disasters, storms or floods, people should immediately contact the hotline 19001006-19009000 or immediately report to the nearest power unit or local authorities for timely handling.
