The Ministry of Education and Training plans to keep the number of candidates registering for the national excellent student exam for localities the same as previous years.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced a draft to amend and supplement a number of articles of the Regulations on national excellent student selection exams, issued together with Circular No. 17/2023/TT-BGDDT dated October 10, 2023 of the Minister of Education and Training.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the amendment and supplementation of a number of articles of the examination regulations aims to guide the participating units in registering the maximum number of candidates for each exam team, and at the same time, deploy the work of checking and supervising the stages of the exam in accordance with regulations.

The draft maintains the maximum number of candidates registered for each subject team of each unit as in previous years. Each unit can register a maximum of 10 candidates for each subject team ( Hanoi can register a maximum of 20 candidates for each team); Ho Chi Minh City will increase from 20 to 40 candidates...

The Ministry of Education and Training said that this regulation is to avoid confusion and ensure the rights of candidates before implementing administrative unit arrangement.

In addition, in the draft exam regulations, to be consistent with the functions and tasks of inspection and examination activities during the exam organization process when there is no longer a ministerial-level inspector, the phrase "inspection" is abolished in many stages of the exam.

According to Circular No. 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, each participating unit can register a maximum of 10 candidates for each team in each subject, while Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can register a maximum of 20 candidates for each team.

Previously, each exam team of each participating unit had a maximum of 6 contestants, while the Hanoi exam team had a maximum of 12 contestants.

This regulation also increases the winning rate of the national excellent student selection exam to ensure compliance with the regulations of regional and international Olympics.

Accordingly, 60% of the prizes are from consolation prizes and above (previous years were 50%). In which, the total number of first, second and third prizes does not exceed 60% of the total number of prizes, the number of first prizes does not exceed 5% of the total number of prizes.
