Help students confidently pass the exam

Recreational activities of students of the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities after stressful hours of studying and reviewing for exams.

To be able to confidently enter the important final exams, students must absorb a large amount of knowledge. Therefore, there is no other way but for them to know how to arrange their time reasonably, between studying at school, at the center and enhancing self-study, self-review... under the guidance and direction of teachers.

At the provincial Ethnic Boarding High School, during the time when 12th grade students are highly focused on reviewing for exams, after each stressful study hour, students can join clubs such as: modern dance, guitar, vovinam, painting... Not only does it help improve health, this is also an effective way for students to reduce exam pressure, maintain a positive spirit and be more balanced during exam season.

Vice Principal of the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, Bui Thi Kieu Oanh shared: “With the characteristics of a boarding school, students live far from their families, all activities and studies are at school, therefore, the school has done a good job ofeducation , paying attention to the spiritual life of students. Along with creating all conditions for students to have the best time and space to review for exams such as opening classrooms, libraries, lecture halls in 3 sessions: morning, afternoon, evening. Fully prepare tables and chairs, electricity, drinking water, fans... assign teachers to monitor and guide students to self-study. In addition, there is supervision by the on-duty supervisor to beat the drum between self-study hours, helping students relieve stress. During the self-study process, students can do exercises, study in groups, discuss... also helping to make studying easier. For students with "weaker" academic performance, the school will also have special support such as assigning teachers to help them review, give private instructions, "Build an active learning environment, encourage students to study on their own... to eliminate anxiety and excessive stress."

Along with focusing on organizing exam preparation for students, many schools also maintain a School Counseling Group, where students can listen and share, and receive timely psychological support when needed. This companionship helps students feel secure and more motivated to overcome challenges.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Yen, President of the Trade Union of Nguyen Trai High School ( Thanh Hoa City) said: "To reduce pressure on students, we focus on taking care of school mental health, establishing a Psychological Counseling Team, and continuously opening the Psychological Counseling Room for students to come to when they need psychological support. The school also regularly observes and proactively invites students to meet and share if it finds that they need psychological counseling, thereby promptly supporting them to overcome the pressure of exam season."

For students, it is also necessary to proactively build a suitable study plan for themselves so as not to be under too much pressure. Vu Quoc Minh, class 9 A4, Lam Son town secondary school (Tho Xuan) shared: “I registered for the entrance exam to Lam Son specialized high school (Thanh Hoa city), so pressure is inevitable. I not only study at school, take extra classes at the tutoring center but also participate in online courses. To allocate time, I have built a suitable study and rest plan for myself. Because the time in class is very little, I pay attention to the teachers' lectures, when I go home I have to read and review the lectures, for the parts of knowledge that I do not understand clearly, I will focus on them to research by myself or ask the teachers to explain. At the same time, I do more exercises to consolidate knowledge and accumulate experience. Besides, I will also take time to rest, entertain, and eat well to ensure good health”.

Not only do they have to face the pressure of studying, many students also have to silently face the pressure from their family's expectations. Either intentionally or unintentionally, or because they do not have enough knowledge and skills when communicating with their children, many parents constantly compare their children with "other people's children", making them feel pressured and uncomfortable.

Having a child in grade 12, Mr. Pham Van Han, Chairman of the Parents Association of Thach Thanh 1 High School (Thach Thanh) shared: “In order for the high school graduation exam to no longer be too stressful but become easier on the path to adulthood for the children, in my opinion, the most important thing is for parents to spend time caring for, picking up and dropping off their children during the important “final” time, listening to their thoughts, wishes and even the difficulties that their children are going through. Instead of focusing only on the final result, respect, acknowledge and encourage the efforts and progress of your children. I believe that when they are acknowledged and encouraged, they will be much more motivated to study than if they are just blamed and imposed on them.”

Being accompanied by teachers and parents during important turning points will help students gain confidence, stabilize their psychology and easily overcome all challenges in their journey "into life".
