At the Galaxy Unpacked event (USA), Google officially announced Gemini Advance (Gemini 2.0) - a powerful upgrade of the artificial intelligence platform, focusing on multitasking and natural interaction. Many improvements in Gemini Advance are designed to optimize for the Samsung line. Galaxy S25 just launched, and supports devices like the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9.
The most prominent feature in this version is the ability to perform action chains, helping users handle multiple tasks in succession with ease. For example, you can use Gemini Advance to find a restaurant on Google Maps, then switch to composing a message via Google Messages to invite friends, all with just a single command.

Core Google apps like Maps and Messages now have extensions available, along with Samsung-exclusive apps like Reminder, Calendar, Notes, and Clock, making the most of the capabilities on the Galaxy S25.
Gemini Live, an extension of Gemini Advance, also gets a major upgrade with multimodal processing capabilities. Users can now upload images, files, or YouTube videos for AI to analyze and assist. For example, you can ask Gemini Live to rate a photo of your project and make suggestions for improvement. However, these features only work on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25, and Pixel 9, underscoring Google's preference for its most premium devices today.
Along with Gemini Advance, Google also unveiled Project Astra – a step forward in AI interaction that allows users to use their phone’s camera to ask questions about their surroundings. For example, you can point the camera at an object and Gemini will provide relevant information, or ask about bus schedules by simply taking a photo.
The built-in AI platform can analyze real-life photos and make suggestions like recipes from ingredients in the fridge.
Project Astra is expected to launch first on Galaxy S25 and Pixel devices. Additionally, Google is testing hands-free AI glasses to help interact with the environment without a phone screen.
Gemini Advance with new features like action sequences and multi-modal processing marks a step forward in applying AI to mobile devices, especially on the Samsung Galaxy S25.
