Grab Vietnam has just introduced a new improvement to the Group Order feature on the online food delivery service GrabFood to bring a simpler, faster and more convenient experience of ordering and paying for group orders for users.

With this improvement, the bill splitting tool allows all users participating in group orders to pay directly on the split bill using cashless payment methods available on the Grab app. This improvement promises to bring a more seamless, faster and more convenient experience for GrabFood users when using the Group Order feature.
Split bills, cashless payments
Previously, with the bill splitter tool in the Group Order feature, users could know the amount each member of the order needed to pay in two ways: Divide equally among each person according to the total order value; or divide according to the dishes each person ordered. Accordingly, the related costs would be divided equally among all members in the group. However, the payment would be arranged later between the members.
First introduced in the Singapore market in 2020, GrabFood's Group Ordering feature has been gradually launched to Grab users in Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam. This feature allows multiple users to add dishes to a common shopping cart, thereby sharing delivery fees, making using the GrabFood service simple and economical.
Mr. Ma Tuan Trong, Commercial Director of Grab Vietnam, said: "Grab researched and developed the Group Order feature based on a fairly common consumer behavior of users in Vietnam. We noticed that office workers in big cities tend to like to eat together, usually at lunch or snack time.
Making it easy for them to place orders together not only meets a very real need of users but also helps them save costs, which is very meaningful in the current context. When participating in a GrabFood group order, related fees (if any) will be shared equally among all users, and they can enjoy additional incentives thanks to the large order value."
User numbers increased by 54%
In addition to the latest improvements to the bill-splitting tool mentioned above, GrabFood’s Group Ordering feature now offers a number of tools to support users throughout the ordering process, such as: Invite with QR code, allowing friends and colleagues to easily scan the code to join the group order. This tool is especially useful when users meet in person, such as in group meetings or gatherings of friends.
Group Order Deadlines allow users to set deadlines for group orders to limit late or last-minute additions by members. Additionally, order creators can also track real-time updates as people join the group order and add items to the shared cart.
Order tracking allows all members to receive notifications about order status from their Grab app and not have to depend on the order creator.
With continuous improvements, the Group Order feature is becoming more and more popular with users. The number of orders using the Group Order feature in Q1/2024 increased by 54% compared to Q4/2023.
Mr. Ma Tuan Trong added: "By applying technology and launching suitable features, as well as constantly improving them, we hope to bring the best GrabFood service experience to users."
