Accordingly, on May 19, the website of the European Academy of Sciences officially announced that Professor Dr. Hoang Xuan Phu - senior researcher of the Institute of Mathematics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) - became a new member of the European Academy of Sciences.
In the letter from Professor Rodrigo Martins - President of the European Academy of Sciences - to Professor Hoang Xuan Phu, it was affirmed: "The election was approved by the academy's council after a rigorous evaluation process, demonstrating the highest recognition of the professor's outstanding scientific contributions and international status."
The main research directions of Professor Hoang Xuan Phu are optimization, optimal control, numerical analysis and scientific computing.
During his scientific career, he has held many important scientific positions and responsibilities, typically as a member of the Asian representative committee in the developing countries council of the International Mathematical Union (2011 - 2014); member of the editorial board of 6 prestigious international journals specializing in mathematics, editor-in-chief of Vietnam Journal of Mathematics (2011 - 2022) and is currently the honorary editor-in-chief of this journal.
He has chaired a series of 7 international scientific conferences on high performance computing (in 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018) and 23 annual scientific conferences on optimization and scientific computing (from 2003 to present).

- Bavarian Academy of Sciences (Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften), elected in 2010.
- The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS), elected in 2013.
- German Academy of Engineering Sciences (acatech - Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften), elected in 2019.
