Ha Nam is a land with a rich history and culture with a huge treasure of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, imbued with the identity of the Northern Delta. With nearly 2,000 relics of all kinds, including 2 special national relics, 95 relics ranked at the national level and 133 relics at the provincial level; 3 national treasures; 12 typical intangible cultural heritages listed in the list of national intangible cultural heritages; more than 100 traditional festivals, 40 traditional craft villages... Along with that is a system of famous rivers, mountains, and caves such as: Tam Chuc Lake, Ba Hang Lake, Doi Mountain - Chau River, Cam Mountain - Ngu Dong Son... are attractive destinations for domestic and foreign tourists.
Up to now, the province has formed typical tourism products such as: rural tourism products with traditional craft villages: Dai Hoang fish sauce village, Trong Doi Tam village, Nha Xa silk village... Cultural-spiritual tourism, festivals: Ba Danh pagoda, Tran Thuong temple, Long Doi Son pagoda, Lanh Giang temple, Dia Tang Phi Lai pagoda, Nguyen Khuyen temple, Nam Cao writer-martyr memorial area; Tich Dien festival, salary distribution ceremony at Tran Thuong temple.
Especially Tam Chuc tourist area, a highlight of Ha Nam tourism. Tam Chuc national tourist area has a total area of 5,100 hectares, where there is a pristine and majestic natural beauty. Tam Chuc is considered an attractive international tourist destination due to its absolute advantages in natural landscape, located in a system of majestic limestone mountains, and is one of the valuable heritage connecting points of Huong Pagoda - Tam Chuc Pagoda - Bai Dinh Pagoda. In 2019, Tam Chuc Pagoda was chosen to host the 16th United Nations Vesak Festival, attracting millions of Buddhist followers and domestic and foreign tourists to attend.
At the Ha Nam Tourism Development Investment Promotion Conference 2023, held at Tam Chuc Tourist Area, Mr. Graham Cook, Chairman of the World Travel Awards, highly appreciated the cultural, historical and tourism values of Ha Nam. He said that with the local tourism development strategy being implemented, Ha Nam will become a particularly attractive destination for tourists in the future.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Ha Nam Province Cultural Tourism Week, Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Chairman of Ha Nam Province People's Committee affirmed: The province has been and is continuing to accelerate the progress of completing the adjustment of the master plan and approving the functional zoning plan of tourist destinations; stepping up communication and promotion activities, researching and building a roadmap closely linked with key tourist areas of the country such as: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City to promote as well as search and connect businesses, especially with large travel agencies to organize new attractive tours to the province.
In the field of foreign affairs and investment promotion, Ha Nam has promoted cooperative relations with localities and organizations of many countries, typically Japan. The province has successfully organized the Vietnam-Japan exchange program through traditional arts of Kyogen and Cheo, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. The Vietnam-Japan traditional art performance exchange program was organized with the desire to continue to introduce and honor the beauty of traditional culture, the close relationship and close friendship between the two countries, the two peoples, between Ha Nam province and localities and organizations of Japan.
In addition to the efforts of state management agencies, Ha Nam province received the joint response of businesses, people, and tourists, all for the common goal of promoting cultural, sports, and tourism activities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province, building Ha Nam to be increasingly rich, beautiful, and civilized.
In 2023, the number of tourists to Ha Nam is estimated to reach 4.38 million, including 131,000 international visitors. Tourism revenue is estimated to reach 3,382 billion VND.
