
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Hanoi Nguyen Nguyen Quan provided an overview of the results of implementing the Party and State's policy on streamlining the organizational apparatus in the city's political system.
Specifically, after the reorganization, Hanoi city has 15 departments, down 6 departments. Of which, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions was established on the basis of the City Ethnic Minorities Committee, receiving additional functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Religious Committee under the Department of Home Affairs.
Currently, Hanoi has 7 religions recognized by the State as legal entities operating, including: Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Cao Dai, Islam, Baha'i and Minh Su religion. In addition, there also exist some forms of folk beliefs and new religious phenomena.

The situation of beliefs and religions in the city is basically stable. The solidarity between religious followers and non-religious people is maintained, religious security is ensured, contributing to the implementation of socio-economic development goals and maintaining political security, order and social safety in the city.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Quan also provided an overview of the results of the implementation of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas of Hanoi Capital for the period 2021-2030. Up to now, the city has basically completed many goals and targets of the program, typically completing 32/35 targets according to Resolution 88/2019/QH14 of the National Assembly; completing 13/16 targets according to Plan No. 253/KH-UBND of the City People's Committee.
“The conference provides training, knowledge, and information on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, ethnic policy programs, etc. to help prestigious people promote their roles and positions in the locality,” Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Quan emphasized.
At the conference, delegates were provided with information related to 4 different topics, focusing on: Some basic contents of the 2024 Capital Law, the 2024 Land Law; Viewpoints, policies and guidelines of the Party and State on religion and belief; Information on the results of streamlining the organizational structure, functions, tasks and operational orientation of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions in 2025 and the following years...
The topics were presented by the reporters in a concise and easy-to-understand manner, providing knowledge, skills and improving the effectiveness of advocacy, propaganda, and promoting the role of prestigious people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the districts of Hanoi city including: Ba Vi, My Duc, Thach That, Quoc Oai, Chuong My.
