Hanoi FC finalizes the list of players participating in AFC Champions League 2023/2024

After basically completing the transfer process, Hanoi FC announced the list of participants in the AFC Champions League 2023/2024. Domestic rookies Dao Van Nam, Pham Xuan Manh, and Nguyen Van Hoang are all registered to participate.

Coach Bandovic also named some young players such as Vu Dinh Hai, Vu Tien Long, Quan Van Chuan, Nguyen Duc Anh, Tran Van Thang and Nguyen Van Truong. The rest of the list are familiar players such as Nguyen Van Quyet, Do Hung Dung, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Do Duy Manh...

In the AFC Champions League, teams are allowed to use 6 foreign players, including 1 Asian foreign player. After parting ways with Mirlan Murzaev, Hanoi FC has decided on 6 players: Damien Le Tallec, Brandon Wilson, Milan Jevtovic, Marcao Silva, Herlison Caion and Joel Tagueu. Of these, Brandon Wilson (Australian) is the Asian foreign player.

Hanoi is the only representative of Vietnam participating in the AFC Champions League 2023/2024.

After the 2023 season ended, Hanoi FC said goodbye to many veterans such as Nguyen Van Cong, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Tran Van Kien. However, the team added many quality domestic and foreign players to replace and serve the arenas in the new season.

In the AFC Champions League, Hanoi FC is in Group J with Wuhan Three Towns (China), Pohang Steelers (Korea) and Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan).

This is a tough group for Vietnam's representative. Urawa Red Diamond are the current champions of the AFC Champions Leagues. Pohang finished 3rd in the K-League last season. They have been a force in Korean football for many years now. Wuhan Three Towns are the current champions of the Chinese national championship.

The 2023/2024 AFC Champions League consists of 10 groups, including 5 Eastern groups and 5 Western groups. Each group has 4 teams.

In each region, the five group winners and the three best runners-up will advance to the knockout stage. The round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals will still be played by region. The final will be a contest between the two strongest representatives of each region.

In the opening match, Hanoi FC will meet Pohang Steelers on September 20 at My Dinh Stadium.
