
Taking place from May 25 to 31, the 1st Hanoi Wushu Open 2025 attracted the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 16 provinces, cities, and sectors in the Northern region. The athletes will compete for 33 sets of medals in two main categories: Taolu (performance) and Sanda (sanshou) with weight categories.
Hundreds of matches took place, bringing spectacular, dramatic, thrilling and emotional performances. The tournament created opportunities for athletes to compete, and at the same time helped coaches find the next generation for the national wushu team. At the end of the tournament, the Hanoi delegation won first place with 20 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals; the Lang Son delegation ranked second with 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals; the Thanh Hoa delegation ranked third with 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 6 bronze medals; The following delegations were the Army (1 gold medal, 5 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals); Hai Duong (1 gold medal, 4 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals); Tuyen Quang (1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals).

Head of the wushu department, Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports), and coach of the national wushu team Phan Quoc Vinh said that the 1st Hanoi Wushu Open Tournament in 2025 is not only a playground for wushu athletes, but also a "nursery" for high-performance sports - where young talents are discovered, tested and nurtured to move towards bigger arenas in the future. From this year, the tournament will be held annually, hoping to create opportunities for competition and improve the expertise of wushu athletes nationwide.
