The picturesque row of camphor trees on Pham Van Dong Street has left an impression on tourists and locals every time they pass by. However, the recent storm caused the trees to be uprooted and broken completely. Following the direction of the Hai Phong City Party Committee and the City People's Committee, the functional units quickly found ways to restore and rebuild this row of trees. After 3 months, this row of trees has almost completely recovered. Under the care of the workers, more than 1,000 camphor trees have sprouted and grown leaves, bringing green to Hai Phong's main road.
According to Hai Phong leaders, 1,045 camphor trees have been planted on this road. These trees were imported from China and planted in Pham Van Dong, with a length of 20 km starting from Rao 1 bridge to Ba Thau intersection on the way to Do Son.
This is the policy of the Hai Phong City Party Committee and People's Committee with the aim of enhancing the beauty of the city and Pham Van Dong Street - which is already famous for its beautiful royal poinciana flowers that delight many tourists in the summer. This is also expected to help Hai Phong become a livable tourist city with the most beautiful flower street in Vietnam, green in all four seasons.
Camphor tree is an evergreen tree also known as wild cinnamon tree, the tree can be up to 40m tall, 200cm in diameter, and blooms in the summer.
