(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of June 13, the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation coordinated with the People's Committee of Ngo Quyen District to organize the 13th "Red Journey" Program and the Ceremony to honor the city's outstanding blood donors in 2025.
The 13th “Red Journey” Program – 2025 is directed by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, chaired by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in coordination with the Office of the National Steering Committee, VTVCorp Joint Stock Company, Blood Transfusion Centers and the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation – Red Cross in 48 provinces and cities across the country. The program takes place from May 30 to July 30, 2025, and is expected to receive about 100,000 units of blood.
Launched in 2013 to address the shortage of blood for treatment in the summer, “Red Journey” has now become a nationwide blood donation campaign, attracting a large number of people to participate. After 12 events, the program has taken place in 59 provinces and cities, attracting millions of participants, organizing more than 3,100 blood donation points and receiving nearly 940,000 units of blood. 2024 marked a record with 51 localities participating, collecting 128,119 units of blood through 341 donation points in 58 days.
This year, Hai Phong City organized the 11th “Red Journey” Program – an annual activity of profound humanitarian significance to raise awareness of all classes of people about voluntary blood donation and blood transfusion safety. The program attracted the attention and support of leaders at all levels, agencies, businesses and the community.
Through propaganda, mobilization and organization of blood collection, the program contributes to promoting blood donation of 350ml or more, increasing the rate of repeat blood donors, regular blood donations, meeting the blood demand for emergency and treatment services in the summer of 2025. At the same time, strengthen propaganda andeducation about congenital hemolytic disease (Thalassemia), especially among union members and young people, contributing to spreading the spirit of humanity, living responsibly towards the community and society.
In response to the International Blood Donor Day, Hai Phong city was honored to have 2 individuals attending the ceremony to honor 100 outstanding blood donors nationwide, namely: comrade Le Thanh Hai (Le Chan district) with 67 blood donations and comrade Pham Dang Sang (Nam Dinh Vu Port Joint Stock Company) with 51 blood donations.
On this occasion, the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation commended and honored 9 families and 67 individuals with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement. Many outstanding groups and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , the City People's Committee and Certificates of Merit by the City Red Cross Society. The activity aims to spread the spirit of humanity, raise public awareness and call on all classes of people to actively respond to the "Summer Blood Drops" Campaign in 2025.
The “Red Journey” program in 2025 in Hai Phong aims to promote and mobilize about 8,000 people to participate, with positive responses from units: Duong Kinh district, Ngo Quyen district and Hoa Phuong Voluntary Blood Donation Club. It is expected that the program will receive about 5,000 units of blood for emergency and treatment work.
