According to Yonhap news agency, on May 11, the South Korean Navy announced that the country and the US conducted a regular special operations exercise in the Yellow Sea last month to strengthen the allies' defense posture.
The exercise took place in late April, with the participation of the US Aegis-equipped destroyers USS John Finn and South Korea's ROKS Sejong the Great - along with the destroyer ROKS Eulji Mundeok.
"The exercise is conducted regularly and aims to strengthen the combined defense posture and interoperability between the Republic of Korea and the US Navy," Lieutenant Colonel Jang Do-young told reporters.
Previously, in a statement on May 9, the US Indo- Pacific Command said the exercise would take place from April 24 to 27.
The content includes anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare exercises, air defense exercises, live-fire exercises and other training activities.
