Vietnam-Russian Navy: One of the important pillars of cooperation in the bilateral relationship

On the afternoon of October 2, in Hai Phong, Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of the Navy, received Colonel Sergey Vladimirovich Belosludtsev for a courtesy visit on the occasion of taking up the post of Defense Attaché of the Russian Federation in Vietnam.

Attending the reception were the head of the Logistics and Engineering Department and a number of agencies of the Navy Command.

Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem welcomed Colonel Sergey Vladimirovich Belosludtsev's appointment as Defense Attaché of the Russian Federation in Vietnam. In his new position, Colonel Sergey Vladimirovich Belosludtsev will continue to be a bridge to effectively implement major orientations and important defense cooperation contents between the two countries in the coming time.

Affirming that Vietnam and the Russian Federation have a long-standing traditional friendship and are comprehensive strategic partners, Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem said that the good feelings and traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation have always been respected, preserved and developed by the leaders and people of the two countries until today. In particular, with a 75-year history, the defense cooperation relationship has always received special attention from the leaders of the Party, State and Government of the two countries.

Along with the development of bilateral relations, defense cooperation in general and naval cooperation in particular have been continuously consolidated and enhanced, becoming an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries.

Regarding naval cooperation, since 2012, the two sides have established the Vietnam-Russia Joint Working Group mechanism on naval cooperation, which is currently operating very effectively. In September 2025, the Vietnam Navy welcomed a delegation of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy; the training ship Smolny visited Cam Ranh International Port... This is a vivid demonstration of the good cooperative relationship between the two navies.

Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem hopes that in the coming time, Colonel Sergey Vladimirovich Belosludtsev, in his position, will actively support to promote the naval cooperation to continue to go deeper and more effective, worthy of being a bright spot in the defense cooperation between the two countries. The two navies will focus on the fields of cooperation in training, education, port visits; and a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Colonel Sergey Vladimirovich Belosludtsev thanked the Commander of the Vietnam Navy for the warm welcome and affirmed that in his position as defense attaché, he will continue to promote the achievements of his predecessors and work with the functional agencies of both sides to promote defense relations in general and relations between the two navies in particular to continue to develop.
