According to Gaming Bolt , before its launch, 343 Industries had announced that it would support Halo Infinite for 10 years. However, over time, the game has faced criticism for its lack of new content and updates. Now, the popular first-person shooter will ditch its current season model in favor of a leaner Operation system, similar to The Master Chief Collection .

Halo Infinite no longer uses a new season model every 3 months

Previously, with the new season model, Halo Infinite would receive new content updates every season (about 3 months). With the Operation model, new content will be updated more frequently, about every 4-6 weeks. Each Operation will last about 2 months and will provide new content such as maps, game modes, customization items, and free rewards in the Battle Pass.

The first wave of Operations, Operation Spirit of Fire, will launch on January 30, bringing a new map, new customization options, and updates to Forge.

Many have interpreted 343 Industries' move to the Operation model as a sign that the developer is slowing down development on Halo Infinite and instead focusing on new projects. 343 Industries has also confirmed that it has "new projects" in development. Additionally, a recent report also suggested that Certain Affinity's battle royale mode for Halo Infinite has been canceled.

The announcement has been met with mixed reactions from the player community. Some welcome the change, excited for a more consistent content roadmap. But others are mourning the loss of big seasonal stories.

With the change to the operating model, Halo Infinite is entering a new phase of development. Can the game find new glory or receive more failures? Time will tell.
