The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a dispatch to relevant units in the aviation industry to proactively respond to and minimize damage caused by heavy rains in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa to aviation activities.

Accordingly, to ensure safety for the infrastructure of the operating airport, the Civil Aviation Authority requires Van Don International Airport and airports under the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to strictly implement regulations on operations in dangerous weather conditions at airports; assess and report the status of runways, review locations at risk of flooding in the airport area to have a quick drainage plan; arrange human resources, vehicles, equipment and machinery on standby to ensure early drainage and prevent flooding in the internal traffic areas of airports.

Regarding the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the Civil Aviation Authority requested this unit to direct aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor the weather situation in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.

Airlines and flight safety service providers must strengthen coordination; closely monitor weather developments to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure flight safety.

Airlines fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological agencies and based on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, protect people and assets of the unit from natural disasters. Airlines proactively notify passengers of flight schedule changes (if any).

The Northern Airport Authority inspects the implementation of response measures at airports in the Northern region; ensures smooth communication with the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and relevant agencies and units within their scope of responsibility to respond to all situations, while closely coordinating with local authorities and functional agencies, promptly updating information and immediately implementing safety measures.
