Da Nang City has nearly 4,900 cameras in public areas and residential areas, but only more than 1,500 are still operating, most of which are not clear.
At the program of Da Nang City People's Council with voters on the morning of November 23, people expressed their opinions that the city has installed security camera systems in residential areas to ensure security, order and environmental sanitation, contributing to deterring bad elements. However, due to being installed since 2017, the image quality is not good, many cameras are damaged.
"The city is requested to review the public security camera system and repair it to promote efficiency and avoid waste," said the voter.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dai Dong, Deputy Director of Da Nang City Police, said that the city currently has 4,849 cameras installed in public areas, residential areas, neighborhoods, and villages through socialization. In addition, there are more than 29,000 cameras installed by people themselves, with angles to monitor public order.
The city police have evaluated the entire camera system installed from social sources. The result is that more than 3,300 cameras, or 68%, are not working. Of the more than 1,500 cameras in operation, only 526 are of good quality, the rest are not clear. Currently, the system does not have funds for regular maintenance.
The police agency has proposed that the city allocate budget resources to maintain and repair operating cameras, and restore some cameras in important locations to ensure security and order.
In response to voters' and police representatives' opinions, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City, requested relevant departments and branches to review and soon have a plan to repair and upgrade the camera system from socialized sources.
In addition to the number of cameras from socialized sources and private homes, Da Nang police currently manage and operate more than 1,800 security surveillance cameras, invested in previous years from the budget of the Ministry of Public Security and the City Police.
Last September, the City People's Council approved a project to modernize the Command Center, combined with a public camera system to ensure traffic safety, security and order, and smart management software, to be implemented in 2023-2026. The city will install cameras with smart skills such as facial recognition, license plate recognition, and automatic warning.
