Thousands of people perform yoga exercises from early morning in Ho Chi Minh City

(Dan Tri) - At 5 a.m., nearly 2,000 people and medical staff were present at Phu Nhuan Stadium (HCMC) to participate in the mass performance program for community health.

On the weekend, Mrs. Lai Thi Anh (83 years old) got up at 2:30 am, eagerly leaving Phu Thuan hamlet, An Nhon Tay commune (former Cu Chi district) with many other elderly people. Following the convoy, she traveled more than 20 km to Phu Nhuan stadium to participate in a group exercise session.

For the past seven years, Ms. Anh has been involved with a small neighborhood yoga group. This is the first time she has been part of a large-scale performance with the participation of nearly 2,000 people.

At 5am, the practice site was brightly lit. Thousands of people lined up, and the music played. Ms. Anh stood in the middle, her thin but flexible arms moving in steady rhythm. Sweat beaded on her cheeks, she wiped it with her sleeve, smiling and said: “Not tired, very strong!”

The mass performance program for community health took place on the morning of November 16, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Nhuan Ward at Phu Nhuan Stadium.

The activity responds to the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Traditional Medicine, while spreading the message "HCMC is putting people's health at the center of all development policies".

Speaking at the program, Dr. Ho Van Han, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine, said that the presence of 2,000 people of all ages and medical staff is a testament to the growing trust in traditional medicine and health care in caring for, protecting and improving community health.

Dr. Tran Ngoc Trieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, assessed that the mass performance of health care for community health is an important part in the process of implementing Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health - shifting the focus from treatment to prevention, continuous health care throughout the life cycle.

“When people are encouraged to exercise daily and take care of their health scientifically and appropriately for all ages, we are building a sustainable foundation for public health. I believe that people who know how to take care of their health know how to take care of themselves,” said the Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

Mr. Trieu also affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is committed to continuing to support similar models to help each person have the opportunity to exercise and take care of their health right at home and in the community.

Attending the event, comrade Nguyen Thanh Trung, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that the event not only promotes the spirit of physical exercise but also demonstrates the strength of solidarity and the spirit of sharing.

At the program, Mr. Trung also called on delegates, medical staff and people to turn to the people in the Central and Northern regions who are heavily affected by storms and floods, join hands to support and contribute to helping people overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.
