To raise awareness about the health benefits of Yoga, the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City are collaborating with provinces/cities in Vietnam to organize awareness raising events and yoga demonstrations across the country.

On the evening of June 20, at Quan Ngua Sports Complex (Hanoi), the 10th International Yoga Day took place with the participation of Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang; Mr. Luu Van Duc, Vice President of the Vietnam - India Friendship Parliamentarians Association; Ambassadors of India, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Iran, Francophone countries, diplomats, senior officials from ministries, departments, branches, yoga clubs and yoga practitioners...
In his welcome remarks, Indian Ambassador Sandeep Arya stressed: The widespread interest in yoga across Vietnam is indeed heartwarming and I believe it is linked to the strong belief in health and exercise that was emphasized by President Ho Chi Minh .
He said that the Government of India has given this year's theme as “Yoga for Self and Society” to highlight the role of yoga for individuals and communities.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a letter to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and expressed his appreciation for Vietnam's enthusiastic contributions in promoting yoga.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang expressed her honor to attend the 10th International Yoga Day. 2024 marks a decade since the United Nations recognized yoga as a holistic approach to health and development.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said: "Vietnam is one of the first countries to co-sponsor the United Nations Resolution declaring the recognition of International Yoga Day. Yoga is not only a physical exercise but also a spiritual journey that helps us connect with ourselves, with nature and with the world around us. Practicing Yoga not only improves physical health but also nourishes the soul, bringing peace and happiness in life."

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang, International Yoga Day is an opportunity to reflect on one's journey towards a healthy and harmonious lifestyle and is a cultural heritage, a philosophy that has deeply influenced life.
"The theme of this year's International Yoga Day 'Yoga for Women's Empowerment' is very appropriate as we strive for gender equality and women's self-determination, for sustainable development and peace," the Deputy Minister affirmed.
The 10th International Yoga Day is also a testament to the growing friendship between Vietnam and India. The participation of nearly 1,000 yoga enthusiasts at the ceremony not only demonstrates the strength of the community but also symbolizes unity and peace.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is always proud of the special relationship between Vietnam and India, and is committed to continuing efforts to promote cultural exchanges and enhance common understanding between the people of the two countries and the world in general.
At the same time, expressing confidence through yoga, people not only improve their physical and mental health but also contribute to building a peaceful and tolerant world – something that is very important in challenging times like today.
