Vietnam's biggest auto show canceled
On August 11, the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and the Vietnam Automobile Importers Association (VIVA), co-organizers of the exhibition, announced that the decision was made after consulting with members and assessing the overall market situation.
"2025 is expected to be a challenging year for automobile production, assembly and trading in Vietnam. Most members are not ready to participate, and there are not many new products to display at a large-scale event like the Vietnam Motor Show" - VAMA representative shared.
The organizers said that Vietnam Motor Show will return in 2026 with an expanded scale and a completely renewed organization format.
The event is expected to apply advanced interactive technology, providing a unique experience space, not only introducing new cars and motorbikes but also displaying smart mobility solutions, green technology, charging infrastructure, financial services and supporting industries.
Vietnam Motor Show is scheduled for October every year. This is the "stage" that brings together the biggest brands in the auto industry for over 20 years.
Car companies tend not to want to spend billions on joint exhibitions.
According to analysts, in the context of declining sales and inventory pressure, many car companies choose to cut expensive marketing costs at the exhibition.
Instead of "burning" tens of billions of dong for a few days of display, brands focus on incentive programs, digital media campaigns and organizing test drives and real-life experiences, which are considered more effective approaches in reaching potential customers.

In fact, this is not the first time the event has been interrupted. In 2023, the exhibition was postponed because the economy had not recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic and many car manufacturers had not yet launched new products.
By 2024, the event will return to Ho Chi Minh City but will no longer have the presence of a series of "permanent" names such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, Audi, Volvo, Volkswagen or domestic manufacturers such as VinFast , Hyundai, KIA, Mazda...
Instead, most of the booths are owned by popular car brands from China. With the cancellation of Vietnam Motor Show 2025, the Vietnamese auto industry will lack a "festival" that brings together the entire market.
