Specifically, the affected vehicle models include: Jeep Wrangler 4xe manufactured from 2020 to 2025; Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe from 2022 to 2026.

According to the announcement of the parent company FCA US LLC (part of Stellantis group), the internal review process recorded 19 vehicle fires directly related to the high-voltage batteries of the two above-mentioned vehicle lines. Although no casualties have been reported, Jeep still proactively implemented the recall to prevent potential risks.
To ensure safety, the company recommends that owners temporarily stop charging the battery and park the car away from homes, buildings and other vehicles until an official fix is available. Jeep representatives said the risk of fire is significantly reduced when the battery is fully discharged, but a long-term technical solution is still being finalized.
Both the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe are key models in Jeep's electrification strategy, equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, for a total capacity of 375 horsepower and a battery pack with a capacity of 17.3 kWh.

This isn't the first time Jeep has had to recall its 4xe hybrids due to battery-related issues. In late 2023, the company recalled about 32,000 2021–2024 Wrangler 4xe vehicles after eight fires were reported while charging. At that time, Jeep issued a similar warning and fixed the problem with a software update or a new battery in serious cases.

The recall is not limited to the US, but also affects 20,753 vehicles in Canada, 2,653 in Mexico, and 32,238 in other markets. Jeep admits that the hybrid powertrain offers better performance but also requires strict safety control procedures.
The Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe remain key to Jeep’s global strategy – combining legendary off-road capability with fuel-efficient hybrid technology. The company says the recall is a necessary step to ensure customer safety and maintain confidence in its electrified products.
Once a repair solution is approved, Jeep will send an official notification to customers to schedule a free inspection and repair at authorized dealers.
