Since 1974, the situation on the Southern battlefield had changed dramatically in favor of the revolution, especially after the Route 14 - Phuoc Long campaign, showing the irreversible decline of the Saigon government. Seizing the strategic opportunity, the Politburo promptly proposed a plan for a general offensive and uprising to completely liberate the South in 1975. Under that boiling momentum, the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising successively won resounding victories through the Central Highlands, Tri Thien - Hue, and Da Nang campaigns, advancing straight into the enemy's last lair with the guiding spirit of "lightning speed, boldness, surprise, sure victory", smashing the enemy's defense forces and headquarters, forcing the Saigon government to surrender unconditionally. On April 30, 1975, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign was completely victorious, the Saigon government collapsed, and the country burst into joy at the reunion of the North and South. The great victory in the spring of 1975 ended 21 years of protracted resistance against the US and opened a new era, the era of national independence, national reunification, and building socialism together.

In line with the spirit of the whole country turning towards the beloved South, Ha Giang has widely launched patriotic emulation movements such as "Three ready", "Three brave", "Hand plowing hand gun". Agencies and units maintain the model of "Saturday for the beloved South", both increasing production and contributing human and material resources to the battlefield. Implementing the motto "Not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing", thousands of Ha Giang youths enthusiastically enlisted. Right from the first recruitment campaigns in 1965, more than 3,000 children of Ha Giang shouldered their backpacks and set off, carrying with them the aspiration to liberate the South and unify the country. In particular, Ha Giang organized and trained the Lam Dong 1 and Lam Dong 2 battalions, twinned with Lam Dong province, directly marching into the battlefield, contributing to the historic victory.

In addition to the support of human and material resources, Ha Giang also played a key role in protecting the strategic transportation route on National Highway 2C. This was the route to receive aid from China to North Vietnam, so since 1965, Ha Giang became the target of fierce attacks by the US Air Force. Vinh Tuy Bridge, a vital traffic route, was repeatedly bombed and damaged by US aircraft, causing heavy losses. However, those attacks only fanned the flames of hatred and the fighting spirit of the army and people of Ha Giang. Under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ha Giang Police force quickly consolidated its organization, stepped up security protection work, coordinated with the provincial military to plan air defense operations, evacuate and protect important agencies, warehouses, and economic facilities. Ha Giang police also steadfastly fought against spy and commando activities planted by the US, such as the discovery and arrest of a group of 7 commandos in Viet Vinh commune (Bac Quang) in 1967. With silent but outstanding achievements, Ha Giang police contributed to maintaining political security, protecting the safety of strategic transportation routes, supporting the large front line, and foiling the enemy's sabotage plots. Many officers and soldiers volunteered to go to the South to fight, many of whom heroically sacrificed their lives, leaving behind a shining example of loyalty to the Party and the nation.

50 years after the Great Victory of Spring 1975, the sacred flame of the spirit of "all for the beloved South", for independence and freedom still burns forever in the hearts of every Ha Giang citizen. That tradition continues to be a strong driving force for Ha Giang to firmly step forward in the construction and development process. With the spirit of solidarity, proactiveness and creativity, in 2024, the total product in the province (GRDP) reached over 17,731 billion VND, an increase of 6.05% over the same period last year. Of which, agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 3.91%; industry and construction increased by 6.71%; services increased by 7.3%; total social investment capital reached 14,200 billion VND; State budget revenue in the area reached 2,475 billion VND; total retail sales of goods and services reached 19,861 billion VND. The whole province has 157 provincial-level OCOP products; Three national target programs were implemented synchronously; health, culture, education, poverty reduction and social security received special attention. Ha Giang became Asia's leading cultural destination, attracting over 3.2 million visitors with total tourism revenue reaching 8,149 billion VND.
