Accordingly, the district People's Council delegates highly agreed with the policy of rearranging Kien Giang province and An Giang province, with specific content: Establishing An Giang province on the basis of merging the entire natural area of ​​6,352.08 km², population of 2,210,387 people of Kien Giang province and the entire natural area of ​​3,536.83 km², population of 2,741,851 people of An Giang province. The administrative - political center of An Giang province is located in Rach Gia city (Kien Giang province) at present. After the rearrangement, An Giang province has a natural area of ​​9,888.91 km², population of 4,952,238 people and 102 grassroots administrative units (including 85 communes, 14 wards and 3 special zones). Through consultation, the percentage of voters agreeing with the above arrangement plan discussed by the district reached 98.01%, of which the highest was 99.65% (Long Giang commune) and the lowest was 94.98% (Long Dien B commune).

At the same time, approve the policy of arranging 6 commune-level administrative units in Cho Moi district, with specific contents: Establishing Cu Lao Gieng commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Tan My commune, My Hiep commune and Binh Phuoc Xuan commune; after establishment, Cu Lao Gieng commune has a natural area of ​​68.92 km², population of 70,372 people. Establishing Cho Moi commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Cho Moi town, Kien An commune, Kien Thanh commune; after establishment, Cho Moi commune has a natural area of ​​50.43 km², population of 80,832 people.
