At the meeting, the reports were discussed, approved and two important resolutions were voted on: Approving the policy of rearranging Kien Giang and An Giang provinces; Approving the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in Cho Moi district in 2025.
Accordingly, the district People's Council delegates highly agreed with the policy of rearranging Kien Giang province and An Giang province, with specific content: Establishing An Giang province on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 6,352.08 km², population of 2,210,387 people of Kien Giang province and the entire natural area of 3,536.83 km², population of 2,741,851 people of An Giang province. The administrative - political center of An Giang province is located in Rach Gia city (Kien Giang province) at present. After the rearrangement, An Giang province has a natural area of 9,888.91 km², population of 4,952,238 people and 102 grassroots administrative units (including 85 communes, 14 wards and 3 special zones). Through consultation, the percentage of voters agreeing with the above arrangement plan discussed by the district reached 98.01%, of which the highest was 99.65% (Long Giang commune) and the lowest was 94.98% (Long Dien B commune).
At the same time, approve the policy of arranging 6 commune-level administrative units in Cho Moi district, with specific contents: Establishing Cu Lao Gieng commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Tan My commune, My Hiep commune and Binh Phuoc Xuan commune; after establishment, Cu Lao Gieng commune has a natural area of 68.92 km², population of 70,372 people. Establishing Cho Moi commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Cho Moi town, Kien An commune, Kien Thanh commune; after establishment, Cho Moi commune has a natural area of 50.43 km², population of 80,832 people. Establishing Cho Moi Trung commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Long Kien commune, An Thanh Trung commune, My An commune; After its establishment, Cho Moi Trung commune had a natural area of 59.83km² and a population of 57,367 people.
Establish Cho Moi Tay commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Nhon My commune, My Hoi Dong commune, Long Giang commune; after establishment, Cho Moi Tay commune has a natural area of 78.66 km², population of 89,018 people. Establish Cho Moi Nam commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Hoi An town, Hoa Binh commune, Hoa An commune; after establishment, Cho Moi Nam commune has a natural area of 63.54 km², population of 73,897 people. Establish Cho Moi Bac commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of My Luong town, Long Dien A commune, Long Dien B commune; after establishment, Cho Moi Bac commune has a natural area of 47.25 km², population of 65,487 people. Through consultation, over 97.99% of voters in Cho Moi district agreed with these options.
