Revealing the cause of the murder that killed 4 people in a family in Hanoi

Many people in the Xuan Quang dyke area, Long Bien ward, Long Bien district - where the case occurred, said that the suspect LQH (45 years old) is a local and illiterate. About a month ago, Ms. T. (42 years old) - H.'s wife filed for divorce.

Ms. T. did not tell her husband what the petition was, she just told H. to sign it. When her husband signed it, she sent the petition to court to complete the divorce proceedings.

After that, Ms. T. rented a house at the foot of Vinh Tuy bridge, both as a place to sell iced tea and as a place to live. The couple separated, and the 5th grade son (the victim in the murder case, the common child of Ms. T. and H.) often stayed with his mother.

On the afternoon of September 1, a leader of the Hanoi Police Department informed that the Long Bien District Police and other professional units of the Hanoi Police Department are investigating the case. “Initial determination is that the husband killed his wife and two children, then hanged himself. The specific cause is being clarified,” said the leader.

According to the police, at the scene, 3 family members died due to external force. The homeowner, LQH (45 years old), died by hanging.

“I don’t understand why, on the morning of the incident, the son who is in 5th grade, the daughter born in 2005 (H.’s first wife’s daughter) and Ms. T. returned to the house where H. lives (outside Xuan Quang dike), leading to such a heartbreaking incident,” said Ms. T.’s friend who sells iced tea.

According to this friend, H. worked as a hired freight carrier, had an unstable job, and was in debt. His wife, Ms. T., was also in debt. When they moved out, H. might have suspected that his wife had a new lover, so he was jealous and had conflicts.

No one knew about the incident. Only when relatives came to look for Ms. H. but the house was locked (around 10am on September 1st), they looked inside and saw a dead person so they reported it to the police.

Talking about Ms. T., the friend said: “I just found out about filing a lawsuit, because T. hid it and didn’t tell anyone. In daily life, Ms. T. is very active, sociable, and has no bad reputation. When the incident happened, everyone was surprised and saddened.”
