Commune post office system - An important 'touch point' of the digital economy

On August 15, Vietnam Post Corporation solemnly held the 80th Anniversary of the Postal Industry's Traditional Day (August 15, 1945 - August 15, 2025).

Exactly 80 years ago, the National Conference of the Indochinese Communist Party held in Tan Trao ( Tuyen Quang ) issued a Resolution to establish the "Specialized Transportation Committee", the predecessor of the Postal Service.

During the resistance war for national construction, tens of thousands of Post Office workers fought steadfastly with the spirit that blood could be shed, people could be sacrificed but information could not be interrupted. Nearly 10,000 cadres and soldiers delivering post and communications heroically fell for independence, freedom and so that the flow of information of the Fatherland would never be interrupted.

After reunification, the Postal sector entered the stage of restoration - construction - modernization. With the motto of going straight to modernity, skipping intermediate technology, opening up to integration, international connection, self-borrowing and self-paying, the postal and telecommunications infrastructure has become the infrastructure pillar of the renovation process, laying the foundation for Vietnam to enter the era of knowledge economy .

At the ceremony, former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Do Trung Ta shared that we have every right to be proud of the glorious tradition of the industry, although there are still countless opportunities and many challenges ahead. I believe that we will continue to reach out, firmly affirming our pioneering role in national digital transformation, contributing to making Vietnam a digital nation with a strongly developing digital economy.

In the first 6 months of this year, Vietnam Post's growth rate reached 22%. Vietnam Post is vigorously implementing a new organizational model, new economic mechanism, and new service ecosystem on the basis of profound and comprehensive digital transformation. These will be the 4 important driving forces that will bring Vietnam Post into a new phase of strong development.

VNPost strives to achieve 80% operational automation by 2030.

At the Anniversary Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation, emphasized that the 80th anniversary is not only an occasion to pay tribute to the contributions of previous generations, but also a moment to affirm the vision and determination for the road ahead.

“The Commune Post Office system - with its “autonomous” mechanism - will play an important role as a physical touchpoint of the digital economy and digital society, contributing to the creation of 3,321 new economic centers at the grassroots level, accompanying the Government and the business community to bring the country to a prosperous future,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang.

Strive for 80% operational automation

This is a great advantage that few postal, logistics or e-commerce businesses have.

Determining the goal for the period 2025 - 2030, vision to 2045 of Vietnam Post as "Technological breakthrough - Connecting the country - Reaching out to the world", Mr. Chu Quang Hao, General Director of Vietnam Post Corporation affirmed that technological breakthrough will be the internal force, connecting the country with technology is the mission, reaching out to the world with "Made in Vietnam Post" technology is the great aspiration of Vietnam Post.
