On the evening of October 28, a tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exploded after colliding with a height-limiting barrier at the entrance to Pho Noi A Industrial Park, Hung Yen . As of this morning (October 29), the authorities are still blocking off the scene, focusing on investigating the cause of the incident.

The front of the tanker truck was completely destroyed by fire and deformed after the explosion. All parts such as the windshield, doors and the cabin were destroyed, leaving only the iron frame and some mechanical parts inside.

According to some witnesses at the scene, the tanker truck got stuck in the height limit barrier (clearly marked 3.2m on the crossbar) before exploding. After that, gas started leaking, 15 minutes later the truck exploded and caught fire fiercely. At that time, the truck was blocking the entrance to the industrial park, causing a long traffic jam. About 1 hour later, the fire was completely controlled.

Authorities measured the distance between the tank and the height barrier. This data was used to determine the exact location and extent of the collision that led to the gas leak and explosion.

Many parts of the tanker were badly damaged, burned black and thrown dozens of meters away. The force of the explosion destroyed the tires and threw debris such as car bodies into the middle of the road.

The force of the explosion caused severe damage to a nearby house. Glass windows shattered and items inside were thrown and broken.

Mr. Duong Van Bien, a resident living right next to the explosion, recalled: "At that time, there was a long line of cars waiting for the train to pass. Seeing the dangerous situation, the train guard opened the barrier to let many cars escape. If not, I think the damage would have been even more serious. When the car exploded, it felt like a bomb had dropped. The glass doors and objects in my house were blown away and broken a lot. My ears were ringing, and I still can't hear clearly."

According to the commander of the Traffic Police Department of Hung Yen Province, the tanker truck was stuck in the height limit while moving. While trying to escape, friction caused the gas in the tank to explode, leading to a fire. Driver NVĐ (born in 1987, residing in Nguyen Giap Commune, Hai Phong City) managed to escape but was burned. Currently, NVĐ was injured and is being treated at the National Burn Hospital.

Authorities have set up a blockade at both ends of the road (about 500m long) where the explosion occurred to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire.
