In the early morning of October 15, Saudi Arabia had a 0-0 draw with Iraq, thereby winning the next ticket to represent Asia at the 2026 World Cup. This is also the third consecutive appearance of this country at the biggest football festival on the planet, after 2018 and 2022.

After the match, the Saudi Arabia team celebrated enthusiastically with the fans at home. Notably, coach Renard kissed midfielder Saleh Abu Al-Shamat's hand as a way to thank this player for his contributions to the national team.

Coach Renard's actions quickly sparked debate on social media. One fan wrote: "Look at how he respects his players." Another account commented: "Respect creates a strong team." Another fan shared: "Saudi Arabia's team showed solidarity. This is the factor that helped them get a ticket to the World Cup."

Coach Renard was appointed to lead the Saudi Arabian national team in October 2024 after the country's Football Federation fired Roberto Mancini. Previously, Mr. Renard was with Saudi Arabia from 2019-2023, and left his mark with a historic victory over Argentina in the 2022 World Cup group stage, although the team could not advance beyond the group stage.

After leaving Saudi Arabia, Coach Renard took on the role of head coach of the French women's team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, the two sides parted ways after only one year of cooperation.

Son Heung-min's 'million view' moment The clip of Kim Min-jae showing Son Heung-min the mascot boy carving the word "Sonny" in his hair quickly surpassed the million view mark on social network X.
