Tuoi Tre Online returned to the areas of key national transport infrastructure projects connecting to Long Thanh airport to record the current situation.

Among the current projects connecting Long Thanh airport, route T1 has been completed, while route T2 is ahead of schedule, expected to be completed next September.

According to records, the construction of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project connecting to National Highway 51 is still in disarray.

Many overpass piers have been completed, but there is still a section that needs to be cleared in Phuoc Thai commune ( Dong Nai ) to connect to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.

Mr. Dong Van Minh, a resident whose land was compensated for in this project, said: "I and some other households have received notice of land recovery but are waiting for compensation payment."

At the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project, Phuoc Thai commune, Dong Nai province, bordering Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old), the construction routes have been connected but one side has been paved, while the other side has just completed the foundation treatment.

At T1 route crossing Highway 51 leading to Long Thanh airport, the project has taken shape. Many workers, bulldozers, and earth-carrying trucks are busy working.

On the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, vehicles sometimes have to move slowly on and off Highway 51 due to the large volume of traffic. This expressway project will begin construction and expansion on August 19 to reduce traffic congestion when Long Thanh airport officially opens.

A series of traffic projects connecting Long Thanh airport

In addition to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway expansion project scheduled to start construction on August 19, according to the plan, Long Thanh airport will also intersect with many roads and railways.

Specifically, regarding railways, the North-South high-speed railway is expected to start construction in December 2026, and the Long Thanh-Thu Thiem railway is undergoing a pre-feasibility report.

Dong Nai province is also speeding up investment procedures for the Ho Chi Minh City metro line No. 1 project extending to Long Thanh airport, with a capital of about 65,000 billion VND.

In the future, the metro system will be supplemented with more interconnected connections when Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai adjust their planning according to a new model and new vision.

Accordingly, Long Thanh airport - Tan Son Nhat airport will be connected via the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line and Ho Chi Minh City metro lines.

Some other routes are also full of potential such as metro line 3 according to the Ba Ria - Vung Tau planning, which will also connect from Vung Tau to Long Thanh airport.

Regarding roads, in addition to the key projects being implemented above, there are also the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 which is about to be completed, research on building an elevated road along National Highway 51 (from Vung Tau intersection to the starting point of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway), Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, etc.

It can be said that the infrastructure framework connecting Long Thanh airport has basically been and is being deployed. The remaining issue is to speed up procedures and construction to meet urgent needs.
