Coach Ancelotti made a strong statement at the Brazil team's debut ceremony

(Dan Tri) - Coach Carlo Ancelotti said that leading the Brazilian team is a great honor and he wants to help the team compete as well as Real Madrid in the 2023-24 season.

Ancelotti officially took over as coach of the Selecao after agreeing to leave Real Madrid on May 24. With the desire to help the 5-time World Cup champion regain his peak form, the Italian strategist quickly attracted the attention of the media and fans with his speech at the inauguration ceremony.

The welcome I received was wonderful. I love the people here,” said coach Ancelotti at his press conference to introduce the Brazilian team.

The 65-year-old strategist's achievements before taking on an important role with the Brazilian national team were extremely impressive. He won the Champions League title five times along with many titles in the top leagues of Italy, Spain, France, England and Germany.

However, coach Ancelotti is confusing many football fans with the list of 23 players preparing for the two 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America, against Ecuador on June 5 and Paraguay on June 10. The 65-year-old strategist has left out Neymar, instead he has called up Antony, who is in brilliant form at Real Betis.

Antony is currently on loan at Real Betis from Manchester United, where the Brazilian striker has enjoyed an impressive resurgence in Spain. Since joining Betis in January, he has scored nine goals and provided five assists in just 25 appearances, a return that far surpasses his lacklustre form at Old Trafford.

“Young players bring energy and enthusiasm, which I see lacking in the Brazilian team. However, experienced players like Casemiro are also essential. He is an experienced player who always gives his all,” said coach Ancelotti.

Ancelotti's debut matches with Brazil will take place on June 6 and June 11, against Ecuador and Paraguay respectively in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America. This will be an opportunity for him to affirm his new philosophy and prove his worth after a difficult period with Real Madrid.

Ancelotti has only worked on the coaching staff of a national team once, when he was assistant to coach Arrigo Sacchi of the Italian national team from 1992 to 1995.
